Can AeroSleep be used in combination with a hot water bottle?
The AeroSleep mattress protector can definitely be used in combination with a hot water bottle. In fact, it’s highly recommended.
The Aerosleep mattress protector consists of three separate layers:
A 7mm thick, open 3D honeycomb structure
An absorbing layer
A watertight layer
In case of a leak, the water from the hot water bottle will penetrate the 3D structure and be absorbed by the absorbing layer. This means your baby will be positioned 7mm above the hot water instead of in it, as would be the case with a standard mattress protector or a mattress with a plastic cover. Thanks to the open 3D structure the water will also cool faster and dry up, which is also safer for your baby.
Can the AeroSleep mattress and mattress protector be used with sensor mats?
Yes. This was determined by independent research agency Sirris. They tested the AeroSleep mattress and mattress protector in combination with various brands and types of sensor mats. The results were unequivocal: the Aerosleep products do not interfere in any way with the operation of the sensor mats.
Does every mattress need an AeroSleep mattress protector?
Yes. Not only is a mattress protector always a good idea because a mattress is by nature a breeding ground for bacteria, the AeroSleep mattress protector also protects your baby and reduces sweating. The 3D honeycomb structure of the protector provides an air layer that keeps your child breathing freely and that prevents the buildup of heat under your baby’s body. Also, the mattress protector is machine washable at 60°C, a temperature at which all bacteria and house dust mites are eliminated.
Does the AeroSleep mattress protector also work with a regular fitted sheet?
The AeroSleep mattress protector works best with the AeroSleep fitted sheets. Contrary to standard cotton fitted sheets they are perforated and made of a non-absorbing fabric so as not to impede the protector’s functioning. As a result our fitted sheets are ideal for infants up to 2 years.

A bed with the AeroSleep products should be made as follows: The mattress is placed at the bottom. Choose a high-density mattress for adequate support. On top of the mattress comes the AeroSleep mattress protector, with the air permeable 3D honeycomb structure facing up. Thanks to the mattress protector your baby can breathe freely at all times. Place the perforated Aerosleep fitted sheet on top. This guarantees the proper functioning of the AeroSleep mattress protector. You can also add several accessories such as the bed bumper and the pillow.
Is the AeroSleep mattress protector also suited for bedwetters?
Yes, the AeroSleep mattress protector is suited for children who wet the bed. Leaks penetrate the open 3D honeycomb structure and are dealt with by the mattress protector’s absorption layer. The watertight layer at the bottom keeps the mattress clean. Moreover, the mattress protector is machine washable at 60°C. As of this temperature all bacteria are eliminated and your child can once again sleep in a hygienic cot.
Should I use another mattress protector on top of the AeroSleep mattress protector (formerly known as ‘protect’)?
No, this is absolutely unnecessary. Our mattress protector combines a regular mattress protector (absorbing and watertight layer) with a breathing 3D honeycomb structure on top. So just like an ordinary mattress protector it will protect your mattress against moisture and dirt and will keep your baby safe from allergens from the mattress. Moreover, it is machine washable at 60°C.
Until what age should I use the AeroSleep mattress protector?
It’s impossible to pinpoint a specific age. What we can do is suggest some criteria:
Is your baby not yet able to roll over and roll back on its own?
Does your child still wet the bed?
Does your child sweat a lot?
If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’ then the mattress protector is definitely still useful. Besides, a mattress protector is always handy - even for grownups - because an unprotected mattress is a breeding ground for bacteria.
The safest Aerosleep combination consists of the AeroSleep Pack with mattress and mattress protector (the mattress is not for sale separately) and the AeroSleep fitted sheet. What makes this combination so special?
What is so special about our mattresses is that they all provide additional lumbar support for your little one. Babies who sleep on AeroSleep mattresses benefit from maximum support whereas other mattresses tend to collapse.
The AeroSleep mattress protector makes your baby’s cot perfectly safe because the air permeable 3D honeycomb structure lets your child breathe freely, even when lying on its tummy.
The AeroSleep fitted sheet puts the finishing touch on our safest combination. An ordinary cotton fitted sheet will largely obstruct the air permeability whereas the perforated structure of an AeroSleep fitted sheet guarantees 100% air permeability, both under dry and wet conditions.
